“Two women decide to write a play about their interracial queer relationship”

Pembroke Players

SUMMARY

Two women decide to write a play about their interracial queer relationship. Funny, honest and explosively entertaining, this is an exploration of race, gender, sexuality, family and what it means to love someone who doesn't look like you.

Combining comedy with hard-hitting social commentary, this stunning piece of new writing is a heartfelt, engaging and, at times, laugh-out-loud hilarious portrayal of two women in love rarely seen on stage. Set in present day London, SCENE follows the relationship of Ayo and Flo, and offers a candid, affirming and unapologetic insight into what its like to live and fall in love in a society which challenges your selfhood and denies you agency.
