“Somewhere in between a stroke and a slap, it is a late-night cabaret for unpolished creatures and beautiful disasters.”

Pollyanna, intimate testbed cabaret

SUMMARY

Testbed cabaret Pollyanna blends alternative drag, performance art, risk-taking theatre, comedy and music for it's Fringe debut, hostessed by queer creature explosive hostess Pollyfilla

Somewhere in between a stroke and a slap, it is a late-night cabaret for unpolished creatures and beautiful disasters.

Cabaret 10pm-3am Sundays - Thursdays. Performances 11pm-1am (NB dates vary from Fringe brochure)

Pollyanna was dreamt up by students at Edinburgh College of Art as a space to encourage, experimentation and of course entertainment! There was a lack of a space of such kind in the city and has been running as a monthly night since February. It is produced and hostessed by students from Edinburgh College of Art, The University of Edinburgh

Each night sees a new showcase of performers from right across the Fringe and Free Fringe (professional, amateur and student) as well as acts that do not have a show on at the Fringe.

At Pollyanna we see the political purpose of drag to subvert, disturb and discomfort the conventions of gender and sexuality. Lovely, lovely, family-friendly drag holds no interest for us. Our drag hostess will be a fluid queer creature rather than a pristine queen. Ready to shock and disturb.

At Pollyanna the whole night is part of the experience; grabbing a cocktail, dancing to the DJ, chatting to Pollyfilla at the bar as well as of course watching the ever-changing late-night showcase.
