The Romanians Are Here

Thu 4th – Sun 14th Aug 2016

“Comedy as dark, slick & dangerous as an arrow in the night”

Sergiu Floroaia, Radu Isac and Toma Alexandru

“The Romanians Are Here” is a stand-up comedy show featuring three top Romanian comedians, all of them regulars on Comedy Central Extra. Each with their own comedic style: one anti-establishment comedian, one ‘one-liners’ comedian and one observational-absurdist comedian. They are as dark, slick & dangerous as an arrow in the night! Though far, far funnier.

Radu, Sergiu and Toma have been doing stand-up comedy for 10 years in Romania, and, more recently, all across the world (including Bucharest, Sofia, Budapest, London, Edinburgh, New York, Washington D.C.).

The show explores the lighter side of current immigration issues and stories (arguably one of the most heated topics in Britain these days) from a rather unique perspective - that of three ‘fellow countrymen’ of one of the most visible migrant groups in British media in the past years. The scope of the production does expand, of course, to any and all migrant groups, in a series of quips that are almost politically correct…

But it does not stop there, the three comedians also talk about their personal lives, relationships, current affairs and sex.

Sergiu Floroaia taped six Comedy Central Extra stand-up specials (two in English and four in Romanian), won Gene Perret’s (Bob Hope’s head writer) “Words To Live By” Joke Writing Contest and opened for Eddie Griffin on the 'Living Legend Tour' show.

"Sergiu Floroaia tells great jokes." - Joe Toplyn (head writer for David Letterman and Jay Leno)

Radu Isac taped one Comedy Central Extra special, showcased at the Comedy International Conference in the UK, and won a Roast Battle at the Hollywood Comedy Store.

Finalist Amused Moose Laugh Off, Winner Comedy Store Gong Show, Winner Comedy Cafe New Act Night, The Blackout at Up The Creek Comedy Club, Honest Comedy Gong Show winner, Funhouse Gong Show Champion of Champions and Hilarity Bites New Act Competition finalist.

He also performed in over 200 gigs across the US.

Toma Alexandru won the King Gong contest at The Comedy Store in London in 2010 and also taped four Comedy Central Extra specials.
