Ed O'Meara/ PBH Free Fringe

SUMMARY

Ed O’Meara’s show starts in the murky creation myth of wolf-loving brothers Romulus and Remus and journeys through Republic, conquest and Empire, the late midlife-crisis which was the third century and into the rise of Christianity and decline of the Empire. This will not be a chronological checklist of ‘things that happened’ but a thematic, freewheeling, live comedy approach to the subject – containing fact and fiction in equal measure. As a bearded man, Ed O’Meara can be more often found siding with the barbarians against the clean-shaven, olive oil-guzzling bully boys of the Empire.

Ed O’Meara won the National Student Award for Comedy, but started stand up in 2007. As well as getting to the finals and semi-finals of many prestigious national competitions, he has featured in Robin Ince’s Book Club, appeared in radio pilots with the likes of Paul Foot and Trevor Locke and is fast becoming experienced festival veteran, as well as clocking up more than a thousand gigs on the stand up circuit.

He blogs for the Huffington Post, has written for The Viz and has been featured in The Scotsman for his 2012 show “You Have Nothing to Fear.”
