SUMMARY

The story of Bacchae is fairly simple. Dionysos, a young god seeking glory, arrives home to Thebes. But his reception isn’t quite what he expected. Angered by his family’s rejection, used to a certain way of life, Dionysos sets out to punish those who have wronged him – and to cement his status as a son of Zeus. The ensuing tragedy is Euripides’ magnum opus, a feast of blood, wine, and sacrifice that will ring in your ears long after it’s over.

We're setting the play in a crumbling Victorian mansion, with a cast of ten enthusiastic young bacchants. All sorts of cool things will help us tell the story - physical theatre, original music, and contact microphones all over the set.
