SUMMARY

Eirwaves is an absurd radio comedy, rifling through the not-so-swinging sounds of 1960s Ireland. Expect scandalous soap operas, daft documentaries, and deranged DJs in this offbeat rendition of a day of radio programming. A cast of five take on a multitude of personalities, from washed-up kids’ show hosts, to lecherous artists and extra-terrestrial sectarians. Following its debut in Dublin’s Player’s Theatre, Eirwaves is making the epic hour-long journey to the Jury’s Inn in the heart of Edinburgh.

Described by Chris Tarrant as “a staggering achievement”, and by my mother as “nearly worth 5 pounds”, don’t miss Eirwaves, almost certainly the only live-action radio sketch comedy set in Ireland in the 1960s to be performed at the Fringe Festival this year.
