SUMMARY

In a world where growing Islamophobia and anti-immigration politics set the tone, Lifted provides a space for a brown boy to tell his story. In a prison cell in Grenrothes. Lifted tells the story of a Scottish Pakistani boy (Anwar) from Fife and a Kuwaiti student (Moody) from St Andrews who are taken into custody and interrogated. Through interviews with Anwar and inner monologues we begin to discover the complexities of his relation to Scotland, to Islam, to his own Identity, towards Moody and to the Queen. However, his individual stories told to the Police and the stories he reveals to us don't quite match up. Slowly we begin to realize that maybe Anwar does actually have something to hide.....

'Lifted is a fantastic, funny, fierce piece of contemporary Scottish storytelling. Drugs, cops & transcendent moments on Iona. Go see.' David Greig

Rich visual language....simple, true and excellent storytelling' Broadway Baby
