SUMMARY

Sack off the Olympics and cancel the f*cking Perrier. Join sketch behemoths, BEASTS for the only competition that matters this summer. Brace yourselves for an epic battle of intelligence, talent, guile and brawn, where the road to glory is paved with broken friendships and shredded dignity. Who will emerge victorious and be crowned Mr. Edinburgh 2016? You decide.

Hosted by the sketch group BEASTS, Mr Edinburgh 2016 is set to be a titanic contest between three incredible specimens of masculinity (also the sketch group BEASTS). Bringing together the very best of Miss World, The Generation Game and Gladiators (both the lycra-clad TV show and the ancient Roman blood sport), this peculiar pageant sees the three competitors face-off in the fabled and fierce “Who Looks Best In This Jacket” round, fight accusations of doping, and try to use their new platform to bring about world peace.

‘Mr Edinburgh 2016’ is a narrative sketch show following Owen, James and Ciarán as they battle for the coveted title, tiara and trophy. The audience will be directly involved in the unique scoring system, and there will be three alternative endings depending on who emerges victorious on any given night.

BEASTS have been named as one of the Amused Moose Comedy Award’s Top Ten and huge critical acclaim placed them among the top reviewed comedy shows at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2014 and 2015. BEASTS have made numerous appearances on BBC Radio 4’s Sketchorama, and their recent TV credits include Comedy Central’s Drunk History, BBC’s Witless, Cuckoo and Josh, and ITV2’s @elevenish. Some of their own sketches, including “Mr Needlemouse” – the origins of Sonic the Hedgehog (which has achieved over 100,000 views and counting), can be found on their youtube channel.

BEASTS are Owen Roberts, James McNicholas and Ciarán Dowd. BEASTS present Mr Edinburgh 2016 is directed by Foster’s nominated director, Tom Parry.
