Phil Dunning

Thu 4th – Sat 6th Aug 2016

“A lot of stand-alone, surreal and hilarious characters crammed together in one show”

Berk's Nest

Making his debut show this year, Phil Dunning’s premieres his solo hour of glitz at the Edinburgh Fringe.

This debut solo hour is a collection of lots of stand-alone, surreal and hilarious characters crammed together in one show. A boy is lost in the woods and finds a house made of chips; a dishevelled ex-Broadway star sings drunkenly in a desperate attempt to win back her career; a mermaid seduces a member of the audience and an astronaut is stranded in space…to name a few.

No character is on stage longer than 4 minutes, so it gives the audience a colourful variety of silly and often disturbing comedy.

The comedic style is a hybrid of Mighty Boosh, mixed with drag, cabaret and Disney. Music, singing, dancing, wigs and fabulous costumes all encompassed by character comedy make this show an original, lively and uproarious show. Most known for his previous performances at the Fringe as part of the widely celebrated sketch group Oyster Eyes, Phil starred alongside Natasia Demetriou, Phoebe Walsh and Liam Stewart. Oyster Eyes have performed three years at the Fringe including their critically acclaimed show 'Some Rice' at the Underbelly which extended to a sell-out run at the Soho Theatre. Oyster Eyes have acquired a cult following at the Fringe for their surreal comedy and bizarre shows.
