SUMMARY

Melodic Dystrophy follows the story of Benedict Leon, a talented actor and television icon, celebrated for his definitive portrayal of Edgar Allen Poe in the seasons of Edgar. When Leon is diagnosed with a degenerative disease, he is forced to face his mortality, consider his legacy, and unearth his own demons of love, loss and memory.

Through experimentation with both established and innovative forms of puppetry, from Japanese Bunraku to shadow-work, Melodic Dystrophy explores what happens to a person when their primary means of expression - the body - begins to fall apart. Tightly choreographed with a post-rock soundtrack, this original drama stages a life in decay through the poetry of Edgar Allan Poe, dynamic stage and set design, and innovative interaction between the animate and the inanimate.

Performing on 13, 15, 17, 20, 22 and 24th of August
