SUMMARY

A show of emotional scars and troubled pasts, Strangeways is a brand new piece of writing by Joshua Val Martin, brought to Edinburgh Fringe by an award-winning team on behalf of the University of Manchester Drama Society.

Meet Dot (Ellie Scanlan). She’s an elderly but feisty Mancunian bird with a murky history that haunts her relentlessly. Despite her deteriorating mental condition, she refuses to let anybody change her ways, least of all her new carer Sam (Annabel Thomson). Lurking at the forefront of Dot’s scrambled thoughts is her dead husband Vinnie (Dan Tunstall), who has cast a disturbing shadow over her life since his death.
