SUMMARY

Inspired by Gogol's short story "The Nose", the play follows the adventures of Major Kovalyov, who wakes up one Christmas Eve to find that his drunken servant has cut off his nose with a razor blade. The severed nose then becomes a member of the Russian Imperial Civil Service and begins to seduce Kovalyov's fiance. We follow the adventures of the nose across St Petersburg as the Major tries to persuade him by any means he can to return to his face.

Oliver Michell's play "The Tulip Tree" won Best Play at the Oxford University New Writing Festival 2012 (judged by Meera Syal), and his work has also been shortlisted for the King's Cross Award for New Writing.
