SUMMARY

The Enfant terrible of world cinema Lars Von Trier receives his British theatre debut this summer, in a world premiere of one of the legendary filmmaker’s lesser-known works. Marking one of Von Trier’s rare forays into comedy, this distinctive and eccentric exploration of office politics has been rewritten for the stage by Jack McNamara, in his first production as the new artistic director of New Perspectives.

Out of work actor, Kristoffer, has been hired to play his most challenging role to date; to stand in as the boss of a failing company and deal with the increasing dissent of the staff. Finding himself the target of their anger, obsessions and desires, Kristoffer is pulled deeper and deeper into his bizarre new reality. Yet when he learns that his final act involves selling off the company and firing all of the staff, he is forced to question whether he has what it takes to sign on the dotted line.

This unique and comic work blows apart the accepted notions of leadership and identity, capturing the provocative brilliance that has made Von Trier one of the most talked about filmmakers in the world.
