SUMMARY

The year is 2046, and Great Britain is underwater. Only one tiny island remains. Stranded are Marilyn (28, calculating survivalist) and Josie (17, childlike). They don't get on.

As the sea level rises and their food disappears tin by tin, both try to make the best of a bad situation. However, it soon becomes apparent that one woman might fare better than two…

Part quirky comedy, part Lord of the Flies and part tennis, Island State is the story of two women's struggle to keep going in the face of environmental catastrophe.

"Quirky, dark and ultimately surprising... a striking portrayal of human nature and all its intricacies." **** (Durham Theatre Review)
