UCLU Runaground

After a sell-‐out run in London’s Garage Theatre, where it was described as “effortlessly cool” and “beautifully played” in a 5* review (The Tab London), UCLU Runaground will transfer their hit production to the Edinburgh Fringe.

Brooklyn, New York, 1955. When handsome and opportunistic cousin Rodolpho sweeps Catherine of her feet, Eddie is left to face the reality that he is no longer his niece’s world, losing out to youth and the promise of happiness with Rodolpho that he can no longer provide. What determines his fate is how he deals with the truth, as Eddie is left to decide whether to accept his niece’s choice to grow up and marry Rodolpho or turn his lodgers into the police, risking not only the unhappiness of his family but the starving mouths of Marco’s children back home in Italy.

UCLU Runaground has become one of the major players in university drama enjoying their most successful year ever at the Fringe in 2012 with productions of Eurydice and 1984, the latter receiving Fringe Sell-‐ Out status. Eurydice was a critical success being described as a “visual masterpiece” and “one of the most hauntingly, beautifully tragic productions yet seen at the Fringe” (EdFringe Review). 1984 also received glowing reviews being described as “one of the most challenging and compelling pieces of theatre” and “aesthetically beautiful and so hard-‐hitting” (Fringe Biscuit). This year we return bigger than ever.
