SUMMARY

SERGEANT BUZFUZ – GO TO THE DEVIL AND SHAKE YOURSELF

The shocking story of the early papacy in song.

“It's mental - in a good way! Absolutely hooked on it" IAN RANKIN

“Go To The Devil And Shake Yourself” tells the history of the first fourteen centuries of the papacy in song. From St Peter to the Great Schism of the early fifteenth century.

Sergeant Buzfuz AKA Joe Murphy is an alternative folk singer. He’s performing the show, based on the album of the same name (April 2012), 22 times in 16 days at the Free Fringe, aided and abetted by Scots singer Polly MacLean from Celtic noir quartet Slate Islands.

Gideon Coe played tracks six times on his BBC 6 show. Ian Rankin became a fan, describing the album on Twitter as ‘the maddest thing I’ve heard all year’. Joe talks about the album in this interview with Folkwords: http://www.folkwords.com/interviewjoemurphypage_2649394.html
