SUMMARY

The Revolving Shed – ‘ablaze with talent’ (Scotsman) – presents a provocative new play that challenges traditional narrative-led theatre by showing that there is no need for a beginning, middle and end in storytelling. Blake’s Doors paints a portrait of a menial and enclosed world: an insignificant snapshot into the lives of three eccentric and perturbed hospital patients. An audience sees this flat and deadpan presentation of a day in life of the bored and the banal transformed, into a picture of an everywhere, as the actions of the obsessive, petty and aggravated characters provide metaphorical allusion to subjects and concerns which extend far beyond the confined walls of their top floor hospital ward. ‘A sure bet for anyone interested in new playwrighting’ (Three Weeks).
