SUMMARY

Award-winning young playwright, Tess Humphrey, tells a darkly comic tale about three misguided adolescents of the aristocracy.

‘St Trinians crossed with Lord of the Flies. Something special’ York Vision

Winter of our Discotheque is set in a public school called ‘The Hastings’, and follows Mama and Alex’s encounter with the newly-arrived and unassuming student, Laurie. Mama and Alex bask in the hedonistic glory of european art cinema and narcotic substances, but tables are turned when Laurie’s troubled history comes to light. Offering a glimpse into the corrupt shades of the aristocracy and the misunderstood crevices of mental illness, this unique coming-of-age story parodies the expected, making the unexpected unmissable.

After the play’s successful run last year in York at the Friargate Theatre, Tambourgi Productions bring Winter of our Discotheque this year to the EdFringe with the intention to inspire fresh audiences with a black comedy that doesn’t shy away from drug dealers, broken hearts and hockey sticks.
