‘I would like to forget – but I still see it before me’

Dealing with one of the most incomprehensible and brutal acts of inhumanity in history, The Investigation combines an original score, physical theatre and contemporary dance to tell the story of the most important and extensive trials of all time.

This highly emotive and thought provoking documentary drama follows the proceedings of the Frankfurt War Crime Trials. The courtroom is re-created by unnamed witnesses who recall their memories of Auschwitz as the law searches for truth and justice. Through the use of physical theatre, the 3Bugs experienced ten-strong cast depict what often cannot be said by words alone.

In challenging the audience to compare human society and the microcosm of the concentration camp, Peter Weiss makes a provocative and invaluable contribution to our understanding to genocide. His play deals sensitively with often avoided subject matter, and confronts it head on with a grounded and appropriate realism.

3Bugs Fringe Theatre is a student run company that consistently creates bold ensemble based work. The company has a burgeoning reputation for original and challenging theatre, taking well known texts and subjects to create something completely different and innovative for their audiences.

They have regularly performed at Edinburgh always to critical acclaim (including The Caucasian Chalk Circle in 2010 and Ophelia Drowning in 2009).
