Hit Comet

Sun 14th – Sat 27th Aug 2011

“A one-act, real-time, comedy play about the music industry: Here’s the secret: We don’t make music, we make the market. ”

“Here’s the secret: We don’t make music, we make the market. We told the world they wanted to dance around to the word ‘umbrella’ on repeat and they said, ‘Thank you Hit Comet, what do we next Hit Comet?!’”

The Show:

Some musicians make it all the way to the top and some hit rock bottom. Who decides their fate? The public? Don't be ridiculous. International record-label and production company HIT COMET decides. Five of the brightest young comedians of the Fringe bring you an hour-long play featuring original live music, real-time storytelling and some handsome power ties. Is it possible to be an artist, a businessman and do the right thing? This brand new work is helping to fill the usually sparsely populated niche of young comedians producing full-length plays at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The Company:

Handcannon is a new theatre company formed in early 2011. Two of the writers, Joe Sherwen and Will Green, are members and ex-directors of critically acclaimed improvised comedy troupe, The Improverts. Additionally, Will is going on to study a two-year stage acting course at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. The third writer, Ed Sheridan, won the Judges Acting Award, NSDF 2011, for his performance as Salieri in the Edinburgh University Theatre Company’s production of Amadeus and is going on to study for a European Classical Acting (MA) at the London Drama Centre.
