SUMMARY

‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ – Magic and Mayhem is about to hit the Fringe!

Get ready for 90 minutes of magic and mayhem – WDG are back at the Fringe!

The critically acclaimed WDG Productions returns to the Fringe to stage its own hilarious version of Shakespeare’s, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.

Fringe festival goers in 2009 certainly weren’t dreaming when they placed WDG’s production of ‘Our Country’s Good’ as the second most highly rated show at the festival on Broadwaybaby.com.

This multi award-winning company has set this production at the heart of civic life in 1950s Britain and uses popular music and dance of that time to spice up this classic comedy drama.

“The 50’s was a wonderful decade”, explains director Richard Hill, “Vibrant, colourful and downright sexy. The quality of this cast has produced a show which is unique, funny, but without losing some of the intense and spellbinding drama which makes this classic one of the nations favourites. I’m sure this version would certainly have put a smile on Shakespeare’s face”.

Confused lovers, fairies with attitude and a bonkers group of Women's Institute members complete with twin sets and pearls collide to create a night of 1950s magic and mayhem in this neatly edited script. The strong and seasoned cast of sixteen deliver a wonderfully funny twist to a comedy classic, creating an atmosphere which is truly magical.

WDG Productions has regularly attracted five-star ratings from critics and has won numerous awards in recent years including those for best production, best actor and best original script.

Whatever else you do at the Fringe this year, don’t miss this!
