SUMMARY

Complicite's Three Lives of Lucie Cabrol evokes a peasant world resilient to history, sensual, unsentimental and gloriously unpredictable. Lucie, a tiny wild woman is abandoned by her lover and outcast by her family. She survives her life second as a smuggler, but it is not until her third life, her afterlife that she discovers something more than bare human existence, the survival of hope. With imaginative physical storytelling and haunting music, the play is a fable about the world’s unfairness and a hymn to the tenacity of love.
