The Tempest

Mon 15th – Sat 27th Aug 2011

“a tilted reimagining of the classic tale.”

Hammerpuzzle Theatre Company

“These are not natural events. They strengthen from strange to stranger.”

Hammerpuzzle take on Shakespeare’s last work in a tilted reimagining of the classic tale.

Interweaving dynamic imagery with live music and choral song, this lyrical re-telling collides magic events, questionable morals and a cast of characters out of their depth. Ultimately, we are all castaways, seeking direction.

Playful, irreverent and high energy, Hammerpuzzle’s The Tempest is an ensemble storm that casts the audience upon unfamiliar shores.

Measure for Measure 2009

“...everything that Shakespeare intended and more, sexy, debauched, funny, characterful and with the twists and turns you expect from the 17th Century bard *****” Sarah Lewcock, remotegoat

“Measure for Measure features captivating performances...a powerful production.” Daniel Hooper, The Bath Chronicle

Hammerpuzzle Theatre Company was established in 2007 by graduates from Bath Spa University’s Performing Arts: Acting degree course. They have worked extensively and have heavy links to Bath Spa’s in-house theatre company, Full Tilt.

Hammerpuzzle believe, and strive to maintain, that their work is forever storytelling, an act of ritual, an event. In other words, theatre that is communally shared between all involved, performer and audience alike, that transcends the everyday normality.
