Lauren O'Rourke

SUMMARY

Female comic and star of The Inbetweeners film due out this summer Lauren O’Rourke debuts her one woman play, Welcome to the Kerryman, chronicling the happenings of an inner city Irish pub in Birmingham.

You’ll be introduced to the regulars along the way and hear 22-year old Lauren’s efforts to leave the place she longs for. Hear about her falling in love with a friend, her trips to London, and the part where she discovers that although she is hilarious, she isn’t attractive.

Lauren received widespread acclaim for her leading role in the National Youth Theatre’s 2009 season and subsequently secured the support of BAFTA-winning producer Charlie Hanson and star of BBC 3’s Him & Her Sarah Solemani. Welcome to the Kerryman is the hotly tipped debut solo show from Lauren – one of the brightest new talents at the Fringe whose unique ability to encapsulate a range of characters and combine both razor sharp comedy with a touching message has already been employed for a number of TV projects.

In 2010 she appeared in Miller & Armstrong and the award-winning Miranda, and soon after she secured a role in The Inbetweeners film due to be released in August 2011.

Lauren’s extraordinary ability both to embody and to impersonate is brought to life in Welcome to the Kerryman as she captures the spirit of a community-based pub that provides the perfect backdrop for a series of weird and wonderful characters.
