Truly Medley Deeply

Cambridge student favourites TMD return to the fringe with their fast-paced tour through pop music history. A video of the group playing on their college roof (without permission.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m98UNrjrYn4) shows the key elements of their success:

-Fantastic pop songs, stripped of their excess verses/bridges and brilliantly interwoven.

-Musicality, and the unique sonic tapestry created by the combination of mandolin, djembe, synthesiser and guitar.

Abandoning traditional clichéd ideas of 'playing songs all the way through', the group originally exploded into Cambridge student consciousness in June 2010, playing at fifteen May Balls in four nights. By cleverly mashing segments of famous songs together under specific themes, they were able to satisfy the tastes of undergraduates with short attention spans as well as the more discerning musos.

"Truly Medley Deeply were my highlight." (Tab Review, Jesus May Ball)

Any doubts that what sent hundreds of exam-free and boozed-up students into delirium would translate to the international audience at the 2010 Fringe were quelled by the response to TMD’s 10 night run at C Venues’ Cabaret Bar. Extensive audience participation, elaborately hilarious choreography and eye-catching costumes helped them to sell out the last 4 nights and receive glowing 5 star reviews.

Having smashed the university ball circuit again this year, supporting international artists such as Big Boi, Cascada and Chipmunk on the main stages, the group is looking to make an even bigger impression at the fringe in 2011. Check them out playing song requests on the Royal Mile in their morphsuits, or at their full show- Venue 54, SpaceCabaret, 6 pm, from the 5th-20th August.
