The Woolton Irregulars

SUMMARY

Liverpool drama group brings Shakespeare into the 21st century with an original one-act play.

The ‘Woolton Irregulars’ are bursting into the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with a modern take on a classic tale. “In Your Dreams” is a comedy almost by William Shakespeare, written by Jeanie Jones and based on the story of the Mechanicals from “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”.

Set in a Liverpool am-dram group full of chaos, romance and faded dreams, In Your Dreams weaves a tale of love, drama and terrible acting. The play is a mixture of comedy and drama, which also asks the question to actors everywhere, “Why do we put ourselves through this?”

The Woolton Irregulars are the recently formed touring arm of long-standing Liverpool group, Woolton Drama Group. This will be their first foray to the Edinburgh Fringe and is only their second independent production following on from the success of “Art” earlier in the year.

Performances will run from 9.45pm on Monday 22nd to Saturday 27th August, at the Greenside Theatre, 1b Royal Terrace, EH7 5AB. Tickets are priced at £6/£5 Monday to Wednesday and £8/£6 on Thursday to Saturday. Tickets can be bought through the official Edinburgh Fringe Festival website (www.edfringe.com).
