Batman! Holy Spoof Musical Batstravaganza!

“Holy Spoof Musical Batstravaganza”

Two Shades of Blue

Holy Spoof Musical Batstravaganza

Holy mass breakout, Batman!

This could be the worst catastrophe Gotham’s ever seen. The supervillains of Arkham have escaped and joined forces in an unnecessarily complicated plot to take down the city.

The Riddler is trying his hand at the horrors of haiku, Two-Face has two plans, two minds and too much on his plate, and as for the Joker… really, just don’t ask.

At the same time, Catwoman has her eye on a very different prize, and Robin refuses to work under these conditions.

From a seasoned director and a dedicated cast of old hands and new faces, Two Shades of Blue brings you Batman’s toughest, hardest and, most importantly, silliest challenge yet, in classic Light Entertainment style!

Can our caped crusaders save Gotham from certain destruction? Does the dynamic duo have what it takes? Will Batman ever get to the zoo?

Tune in to find out!

“Puns, slapstick and jokes cover Batman films, comic strips, popular culture, the audience and saturate the play. But the thing is, they’re funny.” – Madeleine Stottor, Oxford Theatre Review

“In contrast to the darker, grittier films this production has a jaunty and light-hearted feel, and so also offers something fresh to those who have seen Batman in other incarnations.” – Jonathan Edwards, The Oxford Student

Two Shades of Blue is a theatre company that delights in bringing works of light entertainment to audiences that want their theatre to be fun.

We formed in 2003 from members of the Cambridge and Oxford Light Entertainment Societies, two venerable theatre groups whose alumni include Sandi Toksvig, Graeme Garden, HRH The Prince Edward and John Cleese. The Sheffield society joined us in 2010. We produce popular plays in the Light Entertainment tradition, and we provide entertainment for all age ranges.

Since our first production, “The Three Musketeers” was performed at the Edinburgh Fringe, we have been to the fringe with a variety of different productions, including sell-out shows in 2007 and 2008, and 2010. Critical success is often close behind, with several of our shows having four star reviews from Three Weeks and The Scotsman. We also performed Luxembourg’s only family pantomime, in 2010 and again in 2011, which played to sell-out, happy, audiences.

The main aim of the Light Entertainment Societies is to bring theatre to those who can’t get to the theatre of their own accord, such as residential homes and special schools, and all the company have considerable experience delivering entertaining and original productions to a variety of people, as audience reviews from our previous Edinburgh runs demonstrate.
